Spinning Jenny
The
Spinning Jenny is an invention from a period of time known as the Industrial
Revolution (1750-1850). The Spinning Jenny was invented by James Hargreaves in
the year 1764. The machine used eight spindles onto which the thread was spun
from a corresponding set of rovings. By turning a single wheel, the operator
could now spin eight threads at once. Improvements were made that enabled
the number to be increased to eighty.
